1  DISCUSSION BOARDS / OTHER TOPICS! / Our visit to Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala on: March 25, 2011, 05:00:25 PM
Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala is one of the best Aurveda hospital in Kottakkal in India, where we visited for treatment, it was a wonderful facility with professional care.  Following are some of our pictures :

This is the 4th floor corridor where our room was located

This is our room door, room number 412

This is the lock of our door, which is real solid aluminum locks made in India

This is the lock

This is the inside facility of the room, we stayed at a normal non A/C room since all other rooms were occupied

These are the information on the wall such as phone directory, calendar and clock etc

This is the closeup view of the phone directory, which we pictured in order to use when we leave the hospital.

This is the typical vegetarian meal, which they call 'veg set meal' that you can order from the canteen by calling 8219 or 8800.  It consists of rice, bread (rotty) and at lease 4-5 curries made of vegetables and pickle

From our room 412 balcony we had a wonderful view of the typical Kerala nature, the blue house was an iconic structured house

Another view from our room

These 3 photos are also from our room balcony

Following are the 3 pictures that we took from our floor, which shows the park and the new hospital building.  The park is a good place to go and rest or walk, but we did not like that it was not opened all the time since it had some particular timing to visit, however it was wonderful experience where you can meet all the other patients and their family members.

Following are various pictures that we took from our floor

2  DISCUSSION BOARDS / EXPAT ZONE / Re: Pros and Cons of living in Sri Lanka on: October 13, 2008, 12:09:46 AM
I believe if et all anybody going to settle in Sri Lanka, then the best places would be hill country or the coastal areal like down south (as per the individual interest).  Colombo of course is becoming messy and not a good place to live unless you work there.

Nature and the friendly people are the plus points I would consider living in a country that is (was) called Paradise!
3  DISCUSSION BOARDS / POLITICS IN SRI LANKA / Karuna Amman - LTTE Commander to Member of Parliament on: October 7, 2008, 07:13:39 PM
The breakaway rebel leader who formed a political party, Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran alias Karuna Amman was sworn in as a Member of Sri Lanka Parliament this morning by the Speaker with Marxist party MPs boycotting the house in protest of his appointment.

Karuna was appointed to the seat left vacant by JVP MP Wasantha Samarasinghe who resigned to contest the North Central Provincial elections.

MP Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran who is representing the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) was arrested on November 2, 2007 in United Kingdom and served half of a nine-month term for possessing illegal documents to enter into UK and was released on July 03, 2008 to return to Sri Lanka as a free man.

It is also reported that Karuna was the top commander of the LTTE in Eastern Sri Lanka, and the reputed number two in the LTTE hierarchy until he left to form his own armed group in March 2004. Tamil Tiger forces under Karuna’s command were directly involved in some of the worst crimes of Sri Lanka’s ongoing terrorist activities, including torture, summary execution, and use of children as soldiers.
