Don’t insult Tamils!

Apropos the news item that appeared on the front page of your Sunday island, June 10th edition, under the caption "LTTE sole representatives of Tamils - Senathirajah."

I pose this question to the TULF MP.

When and how did this vicious terrorist organisation become the sole representatives of such a cultured people as the Tamils?

Was it by popular choice or by a ruthless elimination of rivals and dissidents?

If it is by the former, then all Tamils are vicariously guilty of all the barbarity unleashed by the LTTE on the Sinhala, Muslim and their own people.

If it is by the latter, then they are not, by any stretch of imagination, legitimate representatives.

Dear Mr. S., please, do not make such irresponsible statements, even under the compulsion of fear and an anxiety to ‘take out insurance’, for in so doing you paint, by association, the very many fine Tamils living among us in a poor and underserved colour.
